If you’re in Helsinki, and a question ( as “where am i?” or “what should i see now?” or even “what are your plans for this evening?” ) pops in your mind, you just have to follow these steps:
1 – stop where you are
2 – open your map or something similar
3 – look pondering at it
4 – count to 10
Somebody will surely stop and he/she/it will speak fluently english: an old lady, a cyclist, a viking.

Welcome to Tallinn!
…and going towards the nordic mythology.
Today i’m going to Helsinki…if the sea is not too slight.
Just two words on these three countries, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia: if you still didn’t understood it, i love’em! They were a beautiful surprise!
Tallin is a medieval city, where you can still admire the old city walls, old defensive towers and buildings, and also the new firms in the centre are trying (succesfully) to mimic the style. You can look at the craftsmen guilds during their work, or restaurants where it’s almost impossible to notice the “new technologies” 
Tartu on the contrary seems more simple. But this simplicity is his beauty. Wooden houses, old style, they’re the most beautiful!
In Tartu i was hosted by a small, but very sweet family: a mom and her son. It was the first time for me when it was hard to say goodbye to one of my host. An outstanding young boy, i’m really happy to have met him!
No more chatting! I added some weight to the backpack…i think in a couple of weeks you’ll find some used books and a couple of clothes. Sir, i’m talking with you

Un piccolo e costoso bar al centro di Riga
Riga, very nice city!
Here in Latvia, more than in Lithuania, there are lots of cats. In Liepaja i’ve found 4 cats just in a bus stop. They surely won’t have problems with rats.
The capital is really dinamic. There are people from morning to night. People wait for the opening of commercial centers, and i’m with them.
Liepaja is a port city. Nice old centre, friendly wild cats, an interesting industrial part.
My favorite remains Kuldiga! It’s true, there are lots of abandoned and ruined houses. But it seems as a city of fairy tales. Full of green, small enough not to be chaotic, big enough to have almost everything. They also have the widest waterfall in Europe! You can’t ask for more!
Yesterday night i’ve been at my third couchsurfing meeting. Funny people, a couple of neovikings (Riga’s people who are living in Norway). Maybe i’ll meet them again there, after visiting Santa Claus up in the north
Un sacco (a lot)
Tuesday, October 20th, 2009of things happened. We left at Kaunas. Now i’m in Liepaja, in Latvia. A country changed, i met new people, a couple of angels, i’m planning again this trip (i had enough of last minute changes…for now), the blog is little by little becoming multilingual.
Lithuania and Latvia ar two great countries. It is true that in cities and in villages you can see lots of old buildings, abandoned or ruined houses, and what could seems like an abandoned place. But it’s not true. Nature here is fabulous, people are warm and hospitable, the countries are moving and the air you breathe is really good!

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009Oggi ho incontrato la mia prima nevicata! Secondo il giornale locale le temperature di oggi si aggiravano da una minima di 2 gradi ad una massima di 3 gradi. A pelle gli do’ ragione.
Kaunas l’ho vista poco, ed ho anche fatto poche foto, perche’ la mattina ha nevicato, il resto del giorno ha piovuto. E col freddo non avevo voglia di tirar fuori la macchinetta fotografica Pero’ quel poco che ho visto mi e’ piaciuto, come al solito c’e’ un misto di vecchi palazzi da ristrutturare, chiese, nuovi palazzi (in genere banche/catene di negozi). Una pecca, che forse e’ dovuta solo al tempo di oggi, e’ che l’aria sembra abbastanza inquinata. In questi due giorni mi sento i polmoni come se non avessi smesso di fumare. Ah si’…ho smesso di fumare a Warsawa

A: Ma sento ancora un languorino.
SdA: No quello sono io che mi sto incazzando.
A: ah. Ok. Uno jogurt?
SdA: Se ti dico di no, ti dico di no. Fidati!
A: No dai, uno jogurt me lo faccio.
SdA: … “io me ne vado”.
A: Ora sono veramente pieno…6 mini pan cackes con la marmellata, tazzona di cereali con latte e jogurt, un wurstel, uno jogurt. Non c’e’ male come prima colazione . Pero’ il panino mi attira.
SdA: Se te lo mangi te lo ripropongo fra 5 minuti.
A: Dai scherzavo, me lo tengo per il pranzo.

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009Vilnus, capitale della Lituania, non sembra davvero una capitale. Carina come citta’, anche qui si possono notare bei palazzi appena ristrutturati, grandi catene di ristoranti, un sacco di negozietti per turisti, palazzi abbandonati in pieno centro storico, un sacco di gente che chiede elemosina. Insomma una classica citta’. A parte il fatto che di domenica sera non c’e’ nessuno in giro, sembra quasi bologna ad agosto.
Ora aspetto che torni il francese con cui ho girovagato per la citta’ in questi due giorni. Dividiamo le spese della benzina fino a Kaunas poi boh.

Saturday, October 10th, 2009Due parole sulla Polonia. Mi piace. In realta’ ci sono molte cose che mi son piaciute, altre meno. Mi sa che alcune delle particolarita’ che non mi son piaciute sono anche alcune di quelle che la rendono simile all’Italia. Disorganizzazione, sporcizia, in pochi parlano inglese. Pero’ le persone sono molto accoglienti, i paesaggi ammirevoli, come la maggior parte delle citta’, ed e’ abbastanza economica
Cracovia e la zona intorno a Danzica (paesi inclusi) sono le parti che mi son rimaste piu’ impresse. Cracovia perche’ e’ una citta’ con molta storia alle spalle, inoltre e’ anche molto viva, grazie ai tanti studenti. Danzica, Sopot, Hel invece sono cittadine piu’ piccole, molto belle da visitare, e con dei bellissimi paesaggi, raccomandate durante il periodo estivo, anche se mi sa che per noi italiani l’acqua del mar baltico e’ fredda comunque

In effetti non lo sapevo. L’ho scoperto quando ho parlato con la mamma (polacca) di un mio amico.
E’ una citta’ molto carina, o meglio son tutte belline queste citta’ attaccate: Gdansk, Sopot e Gdynia. Molto bella anche la penisola a nord anche se meglio andarci d’estate
Stasera autobus verso la Lituania. L’arrivo e’ previsto per domani mattina alle 9 a Vilnius. Sono troppo curioso
